Looking down from the Heavens
Since the beginning of humanity, we have been looking up at the twinkling diamonds and gazing at their amazing beauty. The Sun, the moon and the stars, all blanket our planet in the night sky. The time when the first telescopes were built, humans got a deeper insight into the amazing and weird world of heavens.
We took pictures, readings, x rays photos, gamma radiation prints and many more, of the universe that seemed endless and mystic. But it took only one astronaut, of the Apollo 8 mission, who was standing on the lunar surface when he was struck by the idea to look back onto the Earth. The very first picture of Earth from the moon was that of a blue ball hanging in the lunar sky. Although being much of a scientific acomplishment it was also a major worldwide revolution. One picture that united everyone! The sheer beauty of our planet hanging in the space created a sense of belongingness, no matter how different we are from one another but on the vast cosmic scale we all are just a small piece of dirt.
