In three days after death your own enzymes digest you
Yes it is true. Within three days after death, the very enzymes that once digested your food and gave you the energy to live starts to digest you slowly. Enzymes are highly concentrated acids which are used to break down the food particles into smaller glucose particles which then is stored/utilized in our body as energy. This essential chemical process taking place in us has a scientific name to describe itself- Digestion.
Evolution runs on the wheels of energy, the one obtained from our Sun, directly or indirectly. To trap the unlimited energy from our sun evolution devised a powerful digestive system in all the organisms, instead plants which uses sun's energy directly.
The digestion is all about breaking the bigger molecules of food into smaller ones. To achieve this, the enzymes developed stronger and more concentrated chemicals which has the power to dissolve even complex food items.
Cells lining the inner wall of the stomach secrete roughly 2 litres of hydrochloric acid each day, which helps kill bacteria and aids in digestion. Hydrochloric acid is a very strong acid and hence to protect itself from the corrosive acid, the stomach lining has developed a thick coating of mucus. But this mucus can't buffer the digestive juices indefinitely, so the stomach produces a new coat of mucus every two weeks.
Unfortunately, after death these enzymes have nothing to digest. The only thing which they can interact with is your own internal body tissue. In the absense of any repairs from the body, these enzymes start digesting the tissues from the inside and hence decays the cadavers and thats how soon after demise your own body starts to eat yourself and returns your enegry back to Mother Nature.
