Will the dream of Interstellar Space Flight come true?

Millions of years ago a great migration changed the shape of our planet when the two legged apes migrated from Africa to the rest of the world. Humans have always been travelers and explorers, exploring the far corners of our world.
In the 21st century, the exploration is not just limited to our planet but the heavens as well. Celebrity Physicist, Mr. Stephen Hawkins has said that Human Beings will not be able to survive the next 1000 years if it does not migrate to another planet.
But the scale of our cosmos tell a different story. The distance to be travelled is too enormous for us to imagine with our current technologies but will the dream of interstellar spae flight come true? How advance our technologies need to be to achieve amazing speeds and what are the resources?
Human Beings evolved on Earth but are not destined to get extinct here. We are the best hope of our universe to learn about itself.
