Did Dinosaurs Really have Feather?
Dinosaurs were mostly cold blooded animals and they relied on the atmospheric temperatures to regulate their our metabolisms. Feathers could have provided the Dinosaurs a better means to retain heat and stay warm even during cold climates. This is just one of may theories which suggest that the real Dinosaurs were actually clad in feathers and not like the one we have been shown on televisions or movies.
This new concept has taken the world by storm. It has created a new culture of dressing all the Dinosaurs with feathers to see how they might have looked. While the researches suggest that the logic can be true but a fresh analysis of prehistoric remains suggests that most dinosaurs were scaly beasts after all.
Also it is believed that Dinosaurs started off with a scaly ancestor and the feathers came later in the evolutionary tale. Last year, scientists announced the discovery in Siberia of Kulindadromeus, a small, 150 million-year-old, plant-eating dinosaur that had both scales and feathers. The finding of such an ancient plumage prompted the group to speculate that a fuzzy coating of feathers may have been the rule for dinosaurs rather than the exception. Some artists have run with the idea and drawn up depictions of giant feathered dinosaurs.
Feathers doesn't only provide efficiency in retaining heat from the body but also provide a beautiful display to attract opposite sex and this may come in handy.
Various well preserved fossils are being meticulously studied by the scientists to prove such hypothesis. “Some of these fossils, from China especially, have led people to suggest that maybe all dinosaurs had feathers of some kind,” said Gareth Dyke, a paleontologist at the University of Southampton.
Well, then may be these dinosaurs weren't as we think or have been made to think about them. They were a great species and to go back in time in our minds to imagine how they look is really an awesome thought.
